LADIES. 2018 is your year. 100%. Hands down. I am serious.

There's no reason why this year can't be your best yet. January is full of talk and February is usually full of not a lot of action. I usually find myself super motivated for about a month and then I find myself 8 episodes into a Netflix show with a bag of chips next to me. And then I feel like shit about myself and proceed to talk myself out of any physical activity for the next 10 months.

I don't want to do that this year! I feel like in my work life I can accomplish SO much more than I can in my personal life for some reason. Are you the same way? I can mark off all my tasks on my to-do list for work, but when it comes to meal prep or working out...forget it.

Here are some tips that I have found useful to have the best year yet...and stick with it!

Write Out Your Goals

I am a huge fan of writing out a few things you want to look back on New Year's Eve 2018 and be like, hell yes I did it. Don't go overboard though! Make sure your goals are attainable!

I recently read "Finish" by Jon Acuff and it really changed my perspective on goal setting. The main point of the book is to either cut your goal in half or give yourself double the amount of time to complete it. This is because we allll are a lot of talk and not so much action. So if you want to run a marathon, either set an initial goal to run a half marathon first or give yourself double the amount of time to train for it.

When you make your goal more attainable and then you actually complete it or even exceed it, you feel great and are ready to conquer the next goal you have.

I have a few goals written down for this year (in my notes section of my phone of course) and I'm really excited to look back and be like HELL YES I finally accomplished what I set out to do in January of this year!

I'd love to hear what your goals are this year! Send us a DM on instagram @everestandcompany or my personal account @ashleyellewilson so we can hold each other accountable!

Don't Compare Yourself To Others

Easier said than done. I know. 2018 should not be about everyone should be about you! Who the hell cares about some girl you've never met and her latte. Don't let her latte make your K-cup coffee feel any less. I'm serious! Now is the time to stop letting social media put us in a downward spiral.

I completely understand how hard it is. I have implemented a new technique when scrolling through social media. It is the "Good for her, not for me" mindset. Half the time I see people on social media out on crazy adventures, somehow hiked to the top of a mountain in the perfect booties (like, how) and find myself feeling jealous. But then I'll switch my mindset and remind myself that I don't actually want that. I am such a homebody and can't function if I'm travelling all month - especially alone. So good for her! (Seriously...not a sassy good for her, a real good for her.) But that lifestyle is not for me!

Let's bring it back to elementary school and take some advice from a great:

"Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive who is you-er than you!" - Dr. Seuss

Seriously though, no one is prettier than you, smarter than you, better than you because no one else is you! Embrace your imperfections, work to be the best version of yourself, be kind to others and literally the rest just does not matter.

Embrace Failure

Failure is definitely not fun and can be a little embarrassing. But this year, focus on what you've learned through the failure instead of the failure itself.

I mean, I run this boutique, I've definitely failed a time or two. I've failed customers who didn't get the product they expected. I've failed by losing money on things I didn't research thoroughly enough. But in all cases, I've learned from all of my mistakes. I tried not to take it personally and it has let me grow as a person and grow in my business.

This year, I challenge you to not let failure get you down. Embrace it! You are (like I said earlier) beautiful, smart and strong so anything that might come your way, I know you can handle it and then grow from it!

Do Something That Scares You

Chances are, there is something you think or daydream about constantly that you'll never actually do. For me, that was starting a business. I always talked about it and would say what I would do different, how I could do better, but I never actually did anything.

One day, I just woke up and decided to go for it. You can totally do the same!

Find one thing that scares you this year that you will conquer. Is it travelling alone? Quitting your job? Whatever it is - do it! Do your research, create a plan and just fucking do it! I swear you won't regret it. There might be some times that are hard and you are questioning everything, but you will absolutely win in the long run.

I want to see what y'all do this year! Use #LifeAtTheTop and tag @everestandcompany so we can share your stories!

(Grammar is not my strong suit - running a business is.)
